General True Girl Questions

At its conception, Secret Keeper Girl was an offshoot of another project, meant to be a junior-ministry based off of Dannah Gresh’s book “Secret Keeper” for teenagers. We never expected it to grow into its own thriving brand, be used to bring over 10,000 girls to Christ and to disciple hundreds of thousands. We’ve seen powerful works of freedom and healing happen in lives through this ministry and we’ve come to realize our “junior” name may not be the right fit, especially since the name “Secret Keeper Girl” is not at all indicative of the work that we do. We will still offer all of the same great resources, tools, and tour that you know and love, but just with a brand new shiny name that we think better encapsulates our ministry’s heart. We believe that the name True Girl is a more positive, empowering tone, and believe that adopting a more accurate name will increase our opportunity to reach girls who otherwise might say “Secret Keeper What?”. We feel that the title True Girl is a better representation of our mission; In a culture that lies to girls by telling them they have to grow up too fast or be someone they are not, our goal is to equip moms to protect their daughters and raise a generation of girls who are grounded in Truth, so they will be confident in their faith and in themselves, becoming all that God meant for them to be: a True Girl after God.

Our mission at True Girl is to help moms and daughters grow closer to each other and closer to Jesus. Since starting a Bible study for her tween daughter and her friends in 2005, Dannah Gresh has written over 25 books that help support you in raising your tween girl! We also offer free resources through our blog, social media pages, and brand-new podcast series.

We’re so glad you asked! After 14 years, we finally have something for your boys! The Born to Be Brave Tour is our all-new event for fathers and sons. It’s a night of true Biblical man-stuff designed to bring your guys closer to Jesus and closer to each other. We also have resources for you to use at home including It’s Great to be a Guy, a devotional for tween boys and Six Ways to Keep the Good in Your Boy, a parenting guide for raising tween boys. You can also check out Bob Gresh’s book on sexual integrity for teen guys, Who Moved the Goalpost?

We’re primarily a mother-daughter ministry, but also believe that anyone building into a tween girl’s life is going to make a lasting impact! While much of our content is geared toward one-on-one conversation, we love any opportunity to encourage tween hearts. So if you want to come to an event or work through Lies Girls Believe as a group, we salute you!

The modern fashion industry is marketing more mature clothing to younger and younger audiences. According to a task force report by the American Psychological Association, this hyper-sexualization increases the risk of eating disorders, depression and body image issues in girls. Additionally, The Medical Institute for Sexual Health has determined that girls (and boys) who “look older than they are” are at risk of an earlier sexual debut. It is clear that the thong underwear and padded push-up bras advertised to tweens are not helping them to understand their beauty and value. True Girl encourages girls to dress in ways that are age-appropriate in an effort to protect their hearts and prepare them for the pressures of their teen years. Modesty is not about covering up our bodies, but revealing our dignity. We believe that it’s entirely possible to be both modest and super stylish at the same time!

True Girl is a ministry of Pure Freedom, a not-for-profit ministry that also includes Born To Be Brave, and Grace Prep. Our statement of beliefs is very simple. Here it is:

Summary of Doctrinal Beliefs

GOD

There is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died upon the cross as a substitutional sacrifice for all who believe in Him who can be justified on the ground of His shed blood. He arose from the dead and is now at the right hand of God. He will come again to establish His Kingdom of righteousness and peace.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is a divine person sent to indwell, guide, teach and empower the believer, and to convince the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment.

THE WORD OF GOD

The Old and New Testaments, inerrant as originally given, were verbally inspired by God and are a complete revelation of his will for the salvation of men.

MAN’S SALVATION

Man was originally created in the image and likeness of God. He fell through disobedience incurring both physical and spiritual death. All men are born sinful and are separated from God and can be saved only through the Blood of Jesus Christ.

Event Questions

True Girl Events are specifically geared towards tween girls ages 7-12 and include key moments for you to get to interact with your daughter. On that note: we strongly encourage moms, dads, grandmas, and any role model who wants to impact a little girls’ life to come along and see what these events are all about.

We know many of your girls have grown up loving our ministry and events, but don’t fall into the True Girl age range anymore. That’s why we’re in the process of planning a teen event that they’ll be sure to love too! We can’t wait to share more about this with you soon. For now, you can check out our teen resources and online Bible studies at dannahgresh.com

The show runs 2 1/2 hours with a 15-20 minute intermission.

Yes, you will need to purchase tickets for each person attending.

We will have a master list of all attendees and can check you in as long as you have purchased tickets.

To keep the events appropriate for tweens – we do NOT address or use the word sex in a live True Girl event.

We’re excited to have any adult interested in mentoring their girl’s relationship with Christ grow! That means a mom, dad, aunt grandma, friend, etc!

Sure- kids 3 and under are welcome and free.

All True Girl events just call for casual wear, but we want you to have fun! Some moms choose to dress with the tour theme (we loved seeing all our Crazy Hair, Pajama Party, and Purple Tour moms and daughters go all out in the past!), but we want you to wear what makes you comfortable. This season’s theme is the Pajama Party Tour, so feel free to come in your jammies!

Most of our resources will be available for sale as well as some fun merchandise event specific, so it’s up to you!

Check out our tour page for our listing, or if you’re interested in booking a show contact us!

We try to have photos from our events posted on our Facebook Page, no later than 48 hours after an event. Each event host/promoter provides us with the photos, so be patient! Sometimes it take a little longer for us to obtain them.

We try to come to areas every 18 months, but you can always find the latest on our tour page.

We’re always looking for new partners, so if you don’t see a True Girl event coming to your area email info@mytruegirl.com. To help us know a little about your church please send us your:
